Sit-down lunch at The Commons Lunch or sandwiches and Del’s to go at Wilma’s at Walkers. Where:: Coffee + art at the incredible little tucked-away Art Cafe. When:: I’ve been gushing about how much I love this state to just about ever RI resident I’ve met recently, and the unanimous response they have given is, “yeah, it’s really great this time of year.” So I’m going to go ahead and guess they suggest summer too. Visit on a sunny day, and get out of the car whenever possible. What:: Despite its tiny size, I could have driven circles around this gorgeous area for hours. That place is just screaming for a rosé-by-day party. Who:: You’re all invited on my next trip to Sakonnet Vineyard at least. Their summer concert series is drool-worthy check out the calendar here. Next time we’re definitely bringing some cheese & blankets and buying a bottle. ![]() Didn’t even bother with a tasting because we had so much fun wandering the grounds and lounging in the sun with glasses of their Sacred Rosé and Rhode Island Red. We drove up to live jazz music on the lawn, picnic lunches and wine flowing. We drove by a sign and figured we’d check it out, assuming we’d run into a small tasting room and wine shop and maybe a daily tour or two.įalse. I wouldn’t say it’s walking town–very few shops and restaurants in a confined area–but if you have a car, it’s the best mix of rural and seaside.Ĭarolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyard was the highlight of the day. We had the best day in the sweet town of Little Compton a few weeks ago, driving around the harbor, visiting a local farmers’ market, and stumbling onto a vineyard. For the last eight years, probably more, I haven’t dreamed of living anywhere besides Massachusetts.īut a few trips to Rhode Island this summer have put me in near danger of having an affair with the Ocean State.
